Introducing New Skin Cancer Services

The skin is the largest organ in the body, and COZmedics Medispas has a strong reputation dedicated to improving skin health and delivering a healthy and youthful appearance. Many of our patients who enjoy our personalized approach to appearance oriented dermatology have become increasingly interested in the impact of solar damage and ‘photo-aging,’ and also in the early detection of skin cancer. One in every two Australians will face skin cancer at some point in their life, and much of this will occur on the head, face and neck where the doctors at COZmedics Medispa have significant expertise.

Skin cancer is more of a risk as we age, but also damage from sun exposure can increase risks to children and other family members. Some of the most lethal cancers, such as Melanoma, can strike teenagers and children as well. Early diagnosis is critical, and achieved through full body skin checks and computer-assisted imaging and analysis, by our highly trained doctors offering personalised services to our patients. Because we know your skin well, and have significant clinical background on the skin health of our patients, we are ideally positioned to identify the subtle changes that may lead to additional risk of skin cancer. COZmedics Medispas has engaged the services of new medical experts in skin cancer, and trained up our existing team in cutaneous oncology, to offer the following new services:

• Skin checks, utilising the latest technology to increase diagnostic accuracy, in the privacy of our specialised clinic locations, with the same high level of service our patients expect;
• Our doctors can offer these skin checks to family members as well. Many skin cancers are initially identified by patients themselves or their family members. We have both male and female doctors available, and doctors with significant experience working with children and teenagers to also educate about sun protection and skin cancer prevention;
• Our doctors are also trained in the treatment of management of skin cancer, including the surgical procedures to remove skin cancers, with careful attention to the cosmetic aspects of delivering excellent results;
• Our doctors know that the best predictor of having a new skin cancer is a history of prior skin cancers. We have various ‘field treatment’ options to catch and eliminate abnormal cells before they turn into cancer, and these range from special skin creams to photodynamic therapy options under the care of a doctor;
• Solar damage and photo-aging can also cause unsightly freckles, skin lesions, or changes in moles or other issues which are not cancer, but are of concern to our patients. Our doctors are expert in a range of treatments to overcome past solar damage, and can integrate other treatment programs at our clinics with skin cancer prevention programs;
• Education and prevention is combined with the other products and services to improve overall skin health as a first line of defence against skin cancer.
