COZmedics has a choice of technologies to remove hair in all skin types-pale to tanned or dark to ensure it is done safely, efficiently and effectively.
ProWave for Hair Removal
- A “laser” is a specific, single wavelength of light. “IPL” is a broad spectrum of light, covering several wavelengths. Cutera's IPL for hair removal is called ProWave.
- Since the ProWave treats with a broad spectrum of light, it covers more area with each pulse, so treatments are faster.
- The ProWave is ideal for treating large surface areas such as legs or a man's back .
- It is safe for the bulk of the population, skin types I – V, (but not skin type VI or tanned skin).
- ProWave offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results.
- Unlike other IPL devices, the ProWave only uses “infrared” light. This is safer for the skin while providing the same level of efficacy.
- The ProWave is the only IPL device that has built-in “safety monitors” to ensure every pulse is identical and accurate to maximize safety.
- As with all good laser and IPL devices, each treatment provides permanent hair reduction. However, only hairs in an “active” growing phase are permanently removed. Therefore, a series of four-to-six monthly treatments are required.
CoolGlide 1064 laser for Hair Removal
- The Cutera CoolGlide laser is a safe and effective hair removal laser for patients of all skin types, from light to dark, including tanned patients.
- The CoolGlide is a unique laser because it has a built-in copper cooling tip in the handpiece to cool the skin before and after the laser pulse. This protects the skin from a possible burn, so it is safe for all skin types.
- Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling allow extremely effective, safe and permanent results.
- As the name implies, the CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin.
- Most areas require 3-6 treatments. At each session, the Coolglide laser permanently disables the follicles when the hair is in its “active” growth stage. Those hair follicles are not going to grow back. However, the number of CoolGlide treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors - hair thickness, the area treated and your hair's growth cycle.
- Not all hairs are “actively” growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: active growth, regression, and resting.
- Since all lasers work by targeting the melanin in the hair follicle, it will not work on blond, red, white or gray hair, since there is no pigment in those hair follicles.
Liposuction
Liposuction, sometimes known as liposculpture is a way of sculpting the body to change its shape.
Liposuction was invented by the Italian cosmetic surgeon, Dr Giorgio Fischer and further developed by American dermatologist, Dr Jeffrey Klein.
It is not a substitute for losing weight, rather a means of getting rid of localised fat that doesn't respond to exercise or diet.
Most common areas treated are abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles.
Liposuction removes unwanted fat by using vacuum suction. The fatty deposits are injected with quantities of a solution of local anaesthetic and saline. The fat is sucked out through a fine hollow tube called a cannula.
If you are not unduly overweight but want to change your body shape, you are a good candidate. While ages is no barrier to having liposuction, for best results it is important that your skin has good tone, in other words, it Is elastic and firm. Loose or hanging skin will not be removed with liposuction. Also, it is not a remedy for cellulite.
During your consultation, the doctor will ask about your medical history and explain what liposuction can and cannot achieve in your particular circumstances.
Wrinkle Relaxation
Many facial wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to make repeated facial expressions. In this non-surgical treatment, a small amount of a natural highly purified protein is injected into selected facial muscles that cause expression lines, creating an improved appearance. Once the muscles are relaxed, undesirable facial expressions are prevented, the lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming but it does not cause more wrinkles to form.
The active ingredient is derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould and is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions. In addition to its use for cosmetic reasons, this therapy is also used to treat patients of most age groups in a variety if therapeutic indications including cerebral palsy in children and excessive underarm sweating.
Generally treatment takes about ten minutes, discomfort is minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is usually required and normal activities can be resumed soon after. After the treatment it takes about 7 days to see the full effect and can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeat treatments, the effect tends to last longer or discontinuation of treatments means the muscles will eventually return to normal activity and your wrinkles will revert to their pretreatment levels.
