What is CoolGlide Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal offers a gentle and very effective alternative to conventional methods of hair removal such as plucking electrolysis or waxing. Laser treats several hairs at once and also removes hair from larger areas such as the back, shoulders or legs extremely quickly and easily.

Cutera CoolGlide delivers 21st century technology for treatment of this distressing problem. Cleared for permanent hair reduction, the CoolGlide laser can treat men and women of all skin types and tones safely and effectively. Even patients with suntan.

What does it treat?

CoolGlide can remove hair from all parts of the body including;

  • The face (including the beard area for men)
  • Legs
  • Arms
  • Underarms
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Bikini Line

Advantages of CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal

By using the latest technology in hair removal, CoolGlide can rapidly treat large areas without the limitations of older technologies. The CoolGlide's longer wavelength allows it to be used safely and effectively on patients with light or dark skin. Unlike other systems, the CoolGlide can treat the fine hair on a woman's upper lip just as easily as the course hair on a man's back. the cooled handpience increases patient comfort and minimizes the adverse skin reaction commonly seen with other lasers.

Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. CoolGlide offers permanent hair reduction for lasting results. You can return to your normal day to day activities straight after treatment.

How does it work?

Hair can only be suscessfully treated when it is in the active growth phase - the anagen stage. This is the only growing phase out of 3 (growth, regression and resting) that has a bulb attached to a blood supply. Coolglide treatments work by disabling the hair that is prinicpally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments will be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.

The procedure

The procedure is performed by one of our highly trained Doctors or Nurses and usually takes only a small amount of time for the chosen treatment area. However, depending on the chosen size of the treatment area this time can vary (For example it typically takes 5 minutes for upper lip or 15 minutes for underarms).

When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anaesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

Hair develops in phases and we can only treat hair in its active, visible stage. Therefore, the number of treatments depends on how quickly the untreated hairs appear. For significant clearance, most patients require a course of at least four to eight treatments, which are spaced at least five to twelve weeks apart, dependant on the area of treatment.
