Skin can develop a wide range of growths. Most are benign however can be unsightly or cause irritations. One of the most common adult skin growths is seborrheic keratosis which typically looks like scaly brown plaques that seem to be "stuck on the skin". Another common growth are skin tags that are usually skin-coloured growths that seem to be hanging off the skin in the neck, underarm or groin area and can be irritated by clothing or jewellery.

Milia are little white or pale yellow cysts that usually occur on your face and like most skin growths; they are harmless however cosmetic treatment may be required to remove them. Other benign skin growths can include lipmoas or other cystic lumps under the skin caused by fatty deposits. Skin growths which may require medical treatment include those caused by organisms (fungi, bacteria or virus) which can also be infectious eg. ringworms or warts.
